“The battery was installed fast and started making money right away. Our charging site now runs smoother and cheaper.”

Nordess’ client operates a commercial site that combines renewable generation with electric vehicle charging. The company wanted to make better use of on-site wind and solar energy to power EV chargers more efficiently.

Challenge

Their EV charging station and renewable setup were not synchronized. During the day, solar generation often exceeded demand, while evening EV charging created high peaks and grid costs. They needed a system to store excess energy and release it during charging peaks, thereby lowering costs and increasing self-consumption.

Solution

Nordess delivered a 300 kW / 824 kWh battery system integrated with the site’s 180 kW of solar and local wind production. The battery stores surplus energy and releases it during peak charging hours or when electricity prices are high. The system was delivered quickly and configured to allow access to flexibility markets.

Results

The site now uses more of its own renewable energy and offers cheaper, more reliable EV charging. Energy costs are lower, and the payback period is short because of strong daily utilization. The client is pleased with the fast delivery and strong financial return.
