Agricultural Battery System for Self-Consumption

Nordess’ client is an agricultural producer in Estonia with energy-intensive operations such as grain drying and storage. The company already operated a solar park but wanted to use its own energy more efficiently and reduce grid dependency.

Challenge

The existing PV system could not cover energy peaks during drying and processing. Surplus power during the day was sold cheaply to the grid, while energy had to be bought back later at higher prices.

Solution

Nordess supplied a 400 kW / 860 kWh battery system integrated with client’s existing PV system and farm operations. The setup enables energy shifting and participation in flexibility markets for additional revenue.

Results

The client now covers most of its energy needs with self-produced power. The battery lowers overall energy costs, helps avoid peaks, and generates extra income through market participation.
